3DEqualizer Journey

Week 8 (11 November – 15 November)

3DEqualizer4 stands as the premier 3D tracking solution in the VFX industry, seamlessly merging live-action footage with digital visual effects at the highest quality. It is a cornerstone of modern post-production, trusted by virtually all major players globally. Many of these companies have relied on 3DEqualizer since its inception over 25 years ago—some even exclusively.

In the class, I tried the use of this software for the first time, and tried the camera inversion through a simple case. In order to obtain accurate data, it is necessary to add as many tracking points as possible. In the end, I added about 100 tracking points in total and calculated the motion trajectory of the camera.

Here I show the results of the final camera inversion and show the effect of compositing 3D objects into video, and finally I exported the camera to abc format for the next step.

Week 9 (18 November -22 November)

This week’s lecture is a review and reinforcement of what we learned last time. In the class, I practiced two different scenes in total, completed the tracking of the shot respectively, and finally exported the camera model into maya or houdini for the next step of model synthesis rendering.
